Mike Perry Free Breakdown
Perry brings big power on the feet and a durable way to embrace brawls. He can be outmanoeuvred by specialized boxers but contrary to the likes of Ponzinibbio, a top competitive striker for the division, he was very competitive. Perry is strong in the clinch but his takedown defense is still unproven against a legitimate grappler. Cowboy could harness the ground game as he’s underrated wrestling, but he tends to fight unpredictable gameplans. Getting sucked into brawls is a common problem and here against Perry that might be a big mistake. He has big electricity himself but both guys are very hittable. On the toes it likely favours Perry, at least for the first half of the fight when he’s most dangerous. Start Looking for a back and on war, together with all the durability of Perry making the difference — as both men absorb serious damage.Andrei Arlovski Breakdown
Arlovski is on a 3 fight losing streak but has been aggressive in all fights going back to his KO loss to Ngannou. In 40 years old he brings a not as aggressive fashion these days that has lead to six consecutive choices. His output seems to be slowing his exact boxing fashion stays, allowing him to function behind a jab against slower opponents. Sakai is considerably younger so could still be improving, but so far has failed to impress. He’s large and yells powerful yet slow helpless strikes, with reduced quantity. Primarily a fighter, Arlovski won’t need to be worried about too many other weapons.
This is very likely to be a gradual fight with the more effective striker coming out on top. Start looking for Arlovski to avoid exchanges and poke Sakai from the exterior or use his wrestling to hold him against the weapon. If he can avoid becoming caught a determination here is likely for the underdog.
Bet = Arlovski in 2.30 (+130) chances. Risk 3 Units to win 3.90 Units.
Virna Jandiroba Breakdown
Jandiroba is a severe BJJ blackbelt which makes her UFC introduction with a 14-0 record. She’s jiu-jitsu wins over both Claudia Gadelha and Amanda Nunes. Whilst limited with striking, she is relentless with takedowns and has a wide array of techniques to acquire conflicts to the floor. On top she is quite strong, maintaining control and attacking subs. That is obviously a massive step up in competition from Invicta against Esparza, a true veteran. Carla is on a losing streak against fellow grapplers and hasn’t shown great takedown shield to match her wrestling abilities. She’d be best to try and keep this battle standing where her improved striking should be able to edge out quantity.
Jandiroba isn’t shown at this level but looks like the real deal, demonstrating outstanding method and composure. Worst case situation Esparza is able to defend her off back and make scrambles to force striking exchanges, taking us to a close choice. A better position is Jandiroba dominating with her high control and securing a unanimous decision or locating a submission. An Esparza end is quite unlikely. Given the odds and various paths to success, a shot on the newcomer in even money is fantastic value.
